Ephedrannin A is an A-type proanthocyanidin isolated from the roots of Ephedra sinica that potently inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory responses. It suppresses the transcription of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) by blocking the translocation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and the phosphorylation of p38 MAP kinase in RAW 264.7 macrophages. This compound is widely used in cellular research investigating the molecular mechanisms of anti-inflammatory signaling pathways.
